• FACULTY OF MEDICINE, HEAD, DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY AND THERAPEUTICS Position #BP900 and AK559
  
  We are seeking an individual to provide outstanding leadership for the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba. Faculty in the department maintain well funded molecular and whole animal pharmacological research programs centered on diseases of endocrine, renal, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Neuropharmacology is a major focus and strength of the department which includes an affiliation with St Boniface Hospital Research Centre where the Division of Neurodegenerative Disorders houses several members of staff. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified individual to contribute to the ongoing success of the Faculty of Medicine and to create a new level of interdisciplinary research and collaboration in a department with complementary and diverse skills. This appointment is a tenure-track/tenured position at a rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The headship position is for a five year term beginning January 1, 2009 or as soon thereafter as possible.
  
  The University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine is a major centre of medical education and research linked to sister institutions throughout Canada and the world. It offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs embracing basic biomedical sciences, clinical medicine and population health. The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics has a rich history of research and graduate education in pharmacology and is committed to providing high quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels and professionally in the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Sciences, and in community outreach. Through its close relationships with clinical departments, the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics offers an outstanding opportunity to work with clinical members of the Faculty.
  
  The ideal candidate is an experienced and respected Scientist with an exemplary record of research, mentorship, leadership and teaching in Pharmacology or a related discipline. Candidates should have the ability to reach out and establish good relationships throughout the University, the province and nationally. The candidate will have a PhD and/or MD.
