The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the federal government’s health sciences university in Bethesda, MD, seeks applications for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to provide visionary leadership to the department in its research and educational missions. Current research areas of focus among the 10 tenured or tenure-track faculty members in the department are neuropharmacology and mechanisms of signal transduction (see .  Candidates are required to have a PhD or MD degree, an internationally-recognized research program in pharmacology or a related area, and significant administrative and educational experience. The department is responsible for the pharmacology content in the 18-month pre-clerkship phase of the medical student curriculum and for the education and training of graduate students in several interdisciplinary programs.  The successful candidate must be a US citizen and must pass a background security clearance check. Full federal salary support and a competitive start-up package will be provided to the selected applicant.
